Designed by REX, the blueprint for Economic Yongsan area offers a central node, which complements the cultural draw and the mass of SOM Yongsan LandmarkTower. By balancing the Landmark Tower, on one hand with cultural programs, on the other, the array of office buildings and residential active between thecommercial and cultural centers.

As individual elements, including an art center, an arts magnet school, a broadcast studio, a conference center, a museum and a performing arts theater for cultural programs are too small to generate a critical mass.

It would be inappropriate for an architect to design all the cultural institutions for urban development of 2.2 million m².

Design beyond a certain scale is set in if not outright demands multiple authorshipand experience. The alternative of a single author, too often oppressivehomogeneity yields. REX thus determined the tower of the concept of culture, infrastructure, and the general iconography, but in the genuine interests of various authors, requires that each cultural component to be designed by other architects.
