We get jealous here – with all the schools really beautiful green bloom everywhere in this world, we worry that we could go back to school. ArchDaily tells us that the Hawaii Preparatory Academy finished their new Energy Lab in January, which not only produces more power than necessary, but also serves to educate students about renewable energy and sustainability.
It is also very beautiful and situated in the hills outside the Big Island of Hawaii Waimea rights. Designed by Boston-based architect Flansburgh, energy lab is waiting for final confirmation of its status as a LEED Platinum and its Living Building Challenge certification.
Living laboratory is supported by renewable energy with solar panels on the roof and some small-scale wind turbine on the hill behind the school. Laboratory energy effectively uses only 8% of the electricity it generates, while the remainder was injected into the network and will supply the remaining buildings at the Academy, which gives it a more Zeros.
Students attending the Academy have the opportunity not only to study in a building ultra-durable, but also in learning technology and systems. Direct connections are available outside the outdoor education / learning areas, offering views of inspiration from the nearby volcano Mauna Kea volcanic landscape and crawled toward the coast in the west.
