Shipping containers are often revised as houses, apartments and studios, but the Swedish artist Michael Johansson see them as building blocks for the sculpture. In a new exhibition in Umeå, Sweden, Johansson battery shipping container, shipping pallets, baskets, Volvo, tractors and an old recreational vehicle to create a hipster art would be jealous.
The result is autonomous, while the walls of three-dimensional bonding is interesting texture, color and object reuse.
Authority is part of a larger group exhibition called Umedalan sculptures in 2010 and then display on June 5 and will be until August 15h. Temporary walls can certainly be considered as remnants of the industrial countries in Sweden – for example, take the Volvo stacked on top.
A toy tractor is almost in the back, surrounded by baskets, pallets while supporting the corner of the container. Teardrop teardrop trailer vintage actually beside the container. For Johansson, the installation is more about taking things outside their normal context, and separating them from their positions only to be elements of color and shape.
Johansson, who lives and works in Malmö, is a multimedia artist with a propensity to flea markets and find vintage. Several other works are the same as an independent force. Each collection of vintage, antique or found, neat and organized in a box or as strict. Color and texture settings and the result is a fascinating guide – collage in three dimensions with surprises everywhere.
