Winners of the European architecture of the Solar decathlon has just announced and the prize went to … Finnish team dressed in beautiful wood-Luukku House! The Luukku House (the term refers to a small hatch or door, and is the everyday term for home) follow a long tradition of intensive and creative use of wood as building materials Finland.
Wood is also a material with low embodied energy, and team Luukku House has to calculate not only the construction of carbon (14.778 kg), but carbon sequestration is the construction (26.245 kg).
The House Luukku created by a Finnish team, the interdisciplinary collaboration that combines the Aalto University of Helsinki University of Technology, University of Art and Design and the Helsinki School of Economics. wood is used for the structure of the House of Luukku, insulation, walls, interior floors, walls and ceilings, moisture and heat buffering and quality of applications in high humidity areas like bathrooms.
