Hanimaadhoo Airport that placed in Maldives, are the new spectacular design that designed by Haptic Architects and Narud Stokke Wiig Architects.

Its such a curvaceous airport taht perfectly fitting with the natural beauty landscape of the Hanimadoo island, its give a white coastline unspoiled trace. The airport also designby green design, for the proove the airport is built by roof-mounted solar panels and utilizes several passive design techniques.

This airport new design is to maintain the untouched character of the coastline. Its the Haptic Architects and Narud Stokke Wiig Architects purpose why they build this airport in such island.


They placed the terminal rigt in the lagoon and putting the runway and taxiway on the far north and east of the island. They design this airport as natural as possible by put the existing beach and vegetation line in the design.

The mai terminal itself has curvy and floating roof characteristic that made we imagined them looks like clamshell. The solar panels mounted on the roof, the airport has north-facing rooflights and ample overhangs to minimize solar gain as well as a rainwater harvesting system. In addition, the airport use lightweight element for the timber diagrid structure and has a highly insulated skin.
