Do not be surprised if you see a pink shaft of light sitting in Belgrave Square in London this week – only OR2, color combinations and features a hanging lamp designed by London-based solar Orproject.
The objective structure is twofold: to act as a source of shade in the daytime and turn into a blinding shine at night, scattered light is collected by photovoltaic cells hours earlier.
Pink structure, built at the London Festival of Architecture, is a project to monitor single or roof surface of the solar system. OR2 was transparent while in the shade, but it quickly filled with color when exposed to sunlight.
According to the designers, OR, and OR2 are the first structures that use technology to architectural scale of the photo-reactive. The designer explains, “The beauty OR2 constant interaction with elements in each moment a unique appearance that day.”
OR2 personally want to see? It is on display until July 4 at the Italian Cultural Institute in London.
