Tribal DDB Amsterdam is a digital marketing agency and part of senior international DDB, worldwide one of the largest advertising companies. i29 interior architects designed new offices for about 80 people.
Tribal DDB to our primary goal was to create an environment that supports creative interaction. And to make the workplace as much as possible in a new structure with flexible desktop and a large open space. All this while maintaining a work environment that encourages the long hours of concentrated work office. As Tribal DDB is part of an international network requires a clear identity, which also conforms to the DDB parent company. The design had to reflect an identity that is friendly and playful, but also professional and serious. The contradictions within these questions, asked by the options allow great flexibility in design.
Located in a building in which structural parts could not be changed was a challenge to integrate these elements in the design and become an addition to the full. i29 solutions to various problems that could be addressed by a great gesture. At first, a material that could be an alternative to the ceiling, but also to cover and integrate the structural parts of a large staircase and round. In addition, the acoustics became a very important, as open spaces to encourage creative interaction and optimal use of space was needed.
This led to the use of tissues. It's playful, and can make a powerful image at a conceptual level, is perfect to absorb sound and therefore, creates privacy in an open space. And we could use to cover the scars from the demolition of an effective way. Probably no other material that may be used on floors, ceilings, walls and furniture and lighting to create felt. It is also durable, acoustical, fireproofing and environment. This does not mean it was easy to do all these elements in a material!
i29 is always looking for options that respond to several questions at once. They tell a story about the company concept, space and space users. They deal with specific issues of practical and functional, and they have to have some quality self. These "levels" are intertwined, one that leads to another. If you see how clever it serves the purpose of the practice takes you to the company. If you see a powerful image that is not dependent, takes you to the functionality, and it all goes.
We believe that simplicity builds character. Compare with a human being, people always have strong characteristics of one or a few that stand out. We all know how difficult it is to stay focused on what is most important to you. In the same way is with a design. The result of being highly selective is that you have to push the choice of one to the limit. It also provides a field of tension, and gives you energy in a space without falling into chaos. But most important is that it leaves you with a charismatic environment.
