SSH client is - an international family with a housing (including one in New York and one in continental Europe) - purchased the four-story property named SHH as well as interior architect and designer / decorator to re-plan and redesign interior fit your desires and needs.
Susan Knof, Senior Designer and SHH interior designer for comment
The writing in general for the interior was not prescriptive about the details, but it was more about feeling. The client requested a number of classic and sophisticated gray spaces off. As the customer did not like curtains, wall coverings or finishes such as polished plaster, we had to find a way to add an element of glamor to the approach applied cool, calm and classic, so there was also space range , drama and sensual wealth.
Architecturally, the most important change in the structure of the house was the excavation of the backyard, which previously was high and disorderly and caused the ground beneath the house floors dark and unattractive. Now, a new ground floor living space opens directly into a new garden space, redesigned by landscape designer Kate Gould (Chelsea Flower Show gold medalist and twice creative partner-housing Frequently SHH s), creating the process of two vast and useful light-filled spaces. Indoor and outdoor spaces are divided only by bi-folding doors and full height are joined by the new stone floor (dark gray with a metallic coat), which extends from the underground inside the garden, the creation a strong visual connection and make the spaces seem larger.
The garden has been designed for years of use, with room for entertainment and relaxation, including an elevated wooden deck. The colors of the garden reflect the muted tones in the house and planting consists of pleached Ligustrum, Buxus coverage, Magnolia grandiflora, Chatham Ateli and color of the season. As a fireplace and large dining table outdoors combined with Dedon furniture of all kinds of weather.
The interior of the basement consists of an open kitchen and casual dining life, and a toilet, laundry and existing stairs on the ground floor of concrete. The Poggenpohl kitchen is a dining table with a 2.5 m long 'Link' by Jakob Wagner and six bright colors Arne Jacobsen chairs' Grand Prix ', along with the side boards' Ringo' platinum glazed ceramic and stools' bishop 'three in terms of ceramic white and black, all of India Mahdavi Paris.
We have introduced elements of black and white all over, in order to add a touch of glamor, high-contrast color scheme otherwise subtle and subdued.

Behind the dining room table is a measure of oak feature wall plate (for Carpentry Interior), hand-engraved with a custom design (by Susan Knof) with floral hand built open shelves, allowing storage open and hidden and hiding audiovisual equipment, the lighting hidden under the "floating" off the wall and on each shelf. A long sofa, upholstered in a fabric J. Robert Scott (with cushions 'dandelion clock' Sanderson), stands in front of a vibrant art work, chosen jointly by the client space. A lowland toilet is decorated with glass mosaic tiles in dark gray.
The main entrance to the house is through the ground floor, which houses an entrance hall, guest cloakroom and a large formal reception room, dining room and living room that extends the entire length of the first floor.
The lobby has a table entry black lacquered console by Christopher Guy, tailored to the size of the project, and a series of three high-gloss black lacquered and bevelled mirrors convex Lennox Boca do Lobo. A large-scale, free-form nickel chandelier by Mark Van Egmond illuminates the space, while the artwork on the walls of this space is owned by the customer. An existing staircase has been restored leading to the first floor with wood treads and a new wrought iron railing custom-designed by Susan Knof. The floor is a large format, black smoky oak panels.
The long reception, dining and living room is accessed by a large double door (bolection molded) charcoal-gray color of the wood dark. The formal dining room is in front of the space, as defined by matt lacquered panels screens with embedded depth and pure 'Dedar' fabric, offering privacy from the street while ensuring that natural light does not prevent the entrance of the room. Alongside the table sits a neoclassical style wardrobe with a chest with mirrors and lacquered black, with three gates centrally positioned, by Christopher Guy, with a vase of large-scale metal wire on top.
A polished oak table dining (for Modenature) with eight pewter chairs sitting room with Ashcott sued the details to nail polish under a suspended chandelier with black lacquered screens Ella. Next to the table a new fireplace is framed by two chairs, along with a set of three black lacquered bright-Naos nest of tables. Custom-designed chairs without arms, by the fireplace in the seats are gray flannel cashmere with a floral print fabric upper and Calvin Klein Home amethyst-colored leather cushions superkidskin. Above them are a mirror and a mixture of technical illustrations belonging to the customer. Beyond the area of the chimney is complete unity of medium height, with two doors upholstered in soft suede with dove gray surround studies detail and brushed nickel matte lacquered shelves of shoes back panels dealing with pattern and detail shagreen leather that hides a fan coil unit and AV systems. The detailed studies can be found again in the dining room table seats.
A sofa of 2.8 m long "suitable" for B & B Italia is then custom fabric covered and sitting under a work acquired by the SSH client, whose colors are listed in gold and bronzes of the dampers dispersion on the couch.
A custom-designed lounge chair and ottoman create an informal division between the living and dining areas.
We have a lot to maintain this open space as possible, but always trying to cover all services, especially in heating and cooling. The chaise longue is in the gray flannel seats cashmere wool to match the chairs by the fireplace, dark walnut wood tapered legs, which corresponds to the dark wood dining table. The metallic leather ottoman is subtly engraved with pleated corners and cover exposed details of the buttons on the sides and a cross stitch detail on the top joint, as designed by Susan Knof.

In the back of the room are two large "Plump Scubism" Fratelli Boffi chairs, upholstered in mohair plum colored to match the cushions on the chairs by the fireplace. Behind them, the window overlooking the garden (with a balcony "of Juliet) is covered with sheer voile curtains wave called" Verel de Belval. "Flooring in space is the same black oak smoked as the staircase, covered with a blind hem feature cutting edge art silk rug with a subtle stripe Tim Page Carpets.
A downstairs cloakroom is treated with high-contrast design with a cream background and a ceramic wall tile accent specially commissioned marble with the Latin words "pro magnificent ignotum est omne '(everything seems to be unknown beautiful) set in it. The hand-cut mosaic is Nero Marquina marble with all the text inserted in natural finish Cromatica Super Branco, provided by RIM and cut by hand in Italy.
The master bedroom occupies the entire first floor with two spaces connected or separated by a sliding door. A custom-designed sofa sits in the recess of the window and can be converted into a guest bed when needed, but the real function of space is a dressing room, with off-white satin lacquer woodwork (also hidden units air conditioning) and classic Italian furniture vintage 1940 (tables stools and side) purchased by the customer and the designer together from the Battersea Art and Antiques Fair. The room also features an upholstered ottoman as zebra printed hair on hide.
The master bedroom has the sensation of a high-end luxury hotel suite. The wall covering is subtle tonal dog tooth pattern paper (Brian Yates) and the bed has a headboard as 100% lambs wool 'in graphite gray, with details of programmable buttons and a subtle cream shot multi-tone zebra print pattern. The cushions are French, pleated, 100% wool flannel fog Patagonia by Holland and Sherry. The cushions are a diverse mix of mohair, silk and cotton. A side chair in the room is a 'Mirandolina' chair by the Italian manufacturer Giovanetti, while other blind hem edge art silk carpet full of tissues of the room.
The room also features new units as carpentry (again hiding the plumbing, mechanical and AV) in a cream silk matt lacquer and dark chocolate brown (male to add a note in the space), subtly etched with the door and drawer fronts with custom door locks of PE Guerin in New York, including the old style knobs and pulls silver box ranging from Louis XV to modern octagonal knob. The unit has a TV, and also involves in the master bathroom behind, which is covered with textured tiles Dechierier by Patricia Urquiola. A wall was knocked down to create the perfect master bathroom, with a metallic silver Artquitect vanity unit and basin in a frame painted white, as well as bedding and wardrobe mirror, Jaime Hyon
On the second floor children's room so it fits with the rest of the house in terms of subtle tones, but also very lively and fun and be entitled to a child's room is adequate. Walls are paper tonal polka dots with a feature wall using a paper pattern of birds, with mirrors Ed Annick 'Snijder'bird superimposed on the same wall. Additional decoration takes the form of 100% wool sheared and sculpted sculptures, drawings, floral carpet and a circular scale on the floor cushions in various fabrics. The accompanying bathroom also enjoyable, but not too full-on, allowing the child to grow and continue to enjoy the space. Features include tile "face" Fornasetti, polished chrome faucets Zuchetti sink and mirror by Marcel Wanders.
There is also a guest suite on the floor. The room has a slightly different color palette in a wide range of blues, grays and silvers, including a scalloped headboard as a texture pattern, perforated and a dark walnut library, while the guest bathroom in multi-tone soft multi-textured and tiled, has a large vanity unit with a hidden drawer storage, a hidden kit and custom made frames, beveled mirrors, front in a silver finish washing.
The last second floor space is a study with two Tom Dixon pendant lights suspended with concealed wiring in a detail as carpentry and leather-wrapped handles with an exhibition of couture detail.
