Located in Seattle, Backyard House by SHED Architecture & Design gets its name from the site it sits on top – home parks are divided by the individual.
Fundamental objective of the project to build affordable homes, to produce a program that emphasizes economic development, long-term effectiveness of operations, sustainable materials, and create a bright space and integrate natural light and views of the location.
The house consists of affordable and sustainable materials and methods. Structure itself using advanced framing to reduce the use of wood from% + / – 30 in combination with auto insulation to achieve an effective thermal envelope.
Other solutions include the use of ladder and access the roof terrace to provide passive cooling and ventilation by stack effect. In combination with in-floor/radiator hot water heaters, heat recovery ventilation (HRV) system provides efficient heating and ventilation.
Little or no VOC paints, and has finished in the standards used to address air quality, while dual-flush toilets and water use Energy Star equipment for water and minimize energy consumption.
