Savion House \ Alex Meitlis

Israeli based Architect Alex Meitlis has recently completed "House in Savion", Israel.

A single family residence located not far from Tel Aviv. The plot has been divided by vertical walls creating many different spaces, some enclosed with roofs, some semi enclosed and some totally open. The house only occupies a third of the site, while the rest it is for garden, open spaces and swimming pool.

The project seeks alternative ways to naturally illuminate the house, to enable sun penetrating in the winter months and to create shade for comfortable use of the spaces in the harsh summer weather in Israel.

The ground floor accommodates a living room, an open plan kitchen and dining room. The dramatic openness of this area creates the central spine of the house where it also exhibited the client's art collection. The use of wood elements in the interior gives a clean, warm character to the house.

All rooms open out to adjacent terraces and garden spaces. The Architect manages to integrate the elements of the outdoor into the interior space and to create a tight dialog between interior and exterior by opening windows as frames of the natural surrounding.
